Since its inception 16 years ago, this vibrant non-profit organisation (NPO) has used the power of performance art to bring people from all walks of life together in a world-class annual spectacle. The heart of their mission extends far beyond a single day; they operate year-round to create jobs, develop skills, and amplify the voices and visibility of diverse communities. By sustaining local participation in arts and culture, the Carnival ensures that South Africa’s creative voices shine on a global stage.
Purpose of the Role:
The Cape Town Carnival is seeking a dynamic Marketing Manager to develop and execute strategic marketing plans aligned with their annual social impact goals. This is a pivotal leadership role requiring meticulous budget control, sponsorship deliverable management, and high-level PR and advertising. You will not just manage a brand; you will tell the story of South African creativity across multiple media to drive spectator interest, sponsor engagement, and volunteer participation.

The position requires a creative, collaborative and results-driven leader who can see the "big picture" while managing complex technical details. The ideal candidate possesses excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire a team, encouraging and advising across cross-functional departments. You must be a "story-spotter" who can identify different audiences and tailor messaging that resonates. A solutions-focused mindset and the ability to manage creative and PR agencies toward a unified annual theme are essential.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in marketing or a related field.
• At least three years’ experience as a marketing manager.
• Proven expertise in Digital Marketing, social media strategy, and implementation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage sponsor/funding contractual marketing rights and obligations.
• Strong competency in PR planning and managing creative agencies.
• Experience in market research and data analysis to evaluate campaign success.
• Established contacts within the South African media landscape are advantageous.
• Stellar presentation and communication skills.
• Driver’s license and own car essential
