Background:
Luceo Solutions is a specialist consultancy dedicated to helping non-profits build long-term operational strength.
Founded in 2021, Luceo delivers a comprehensive suite of professional services that handle the heavy lifting of NPO management, spanning fundraising systems, human resources, organisational technology, Theory of Change (ToC) evaluations, and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) impact tracking.
The heart of Luceo's model is rooted in operational expertise.
Founded by a former industrial engineer who spent 16 years building one of South Africa's premier homeless support organisations, Luceo brings a highly structured, data-driven systems approach to civil society. Backed by an agile, specialised team of actuaries, tech professionals, and frontline experts, Luceo works alongside NPOs to ensure that South Africa's development initiatives achieve world-class excellence.
Purpose of the Role:
Luceo Solutions is seeking a dynamic, analytical, and highly organised Fundraiser to lead and expand their Formal Fundraising Assistance (FFA) service line. This is a pivotal strategic management position in which you will manage a diversified pipeline of funding opportunities for a diverse portfolio of NPO clients.
This role extends far beyond standard proposal writing; it is a consultative, systems-driven architecture position focused on building donor databases, onboarding client data systems, managing institutional knowledge, and embedding advanced tools, such as AI, to accelerate research and submission workflows.
Fit:
The position requires a structured, solutions-focused professional who aligns with Luceo's pursuit of excellence. The ideal candidate possesses a rare blend of analytical rigour and creative presentation skills - someone who has a systems mindset but is also a compelling storyteller capable of capturing an NPO’s human impact on paper. You must be an excellent collaborator who can confidently engage with NPO executives during strategic sessions, advising them on market positioning, model clarity, and fundraising compliance. A high degree of independence, adaptability, and ethical professional standards is non-negotiable.
Requirements:
• Grant Writing Expertise: Documented track record of successful grant writing and securing significant funding for non-profit organisations.
• Systems & Data Mindset: Structured, analytical approach with proven experience developing, maintaining, and improving donor databases and pipeline tracking systems.
• Research & Matching Capability: Exceptional desktop research skills with a sharp eye for detail to match complex funder criteria with client operational needs.
• NPO Landscape Literacy: Strong foundational understanding of South African non-profit dynamics, including ToC, M&E frameworks, Governance, SA trading regulations, and BBBEE compliance.
• Project Management Skills: Proven ability to work completely independently, coordinate multiple client portfolios simultaneously, and meet rigid, overlapping submission deadlines.
• Storytelling & Communication: Stellar written and verbal communication skills, with an innate ability to draft highly articulate, persuasive proposals and impact stories.
• Tech-Savvy Operations (Bonus): Strategic proficiency or progressive experience utilising Artificial Intelligence to expedite research and drafting workflows.
• Systems & CRM Tools (Bonus): Practical experience navigating Salesforce, Airtable, Mailchimp, or digital communication channels is highly advantageous.
• Funder Networks (Bonus): Established, active relationships with prominent corporate foundations, trusts, and High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs).
