The Opportunity
St Alban’s College invites visionary candidates to apply for the role of Director of Advancement, a pivotal leadership position within the Senior Management Team (SMT). This role reports to the Executive Headmaster and the Vice Chairman of the Foundation. As a member of the SMT, you will lead all advancement and fundraising functions, with a strategic goal of raising R33 million annually toward the endowment fund.
The Director of Advancement is integral to shaping the school's next era of growth and generosity.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skillsets:
• Proven track record in raising funds from local and international individuals, trusts & foundations, and corporates.
• Skilled in local and international development activities; major gifts, grant writing, and planned giving fundraising/stewardship strategy design and implementation.
• Proven ability to cultivate relationships and emotional capital with prospective and existing HNW donors, alumni/influencers, sponsors, and corporate partners.
• Candidates must have demonstrated leadership capability, with the right combination of operational rigour, relationship-building skills, and an ability to work seamlessly across both strategic and operational levels.
• Excellent written and superior oral communication skills, including public speaking, negotiation, and persuasive storytelling.
• Understands the increasing regulatory landscape and can create proactive risk mitigation structures for compliance in donor funds, sponsorship agreements, and cross-border tax issues.
• Able to produce data-driven Foundation/Fundraising/Impact Report.
