WWF connects people and nature.
Founded in Switzerland in 1961, The World-Wide Fund for Nature are one of the most recognisable non-profit conservation organisations in the world.
In 1968, with the help of Dr Anton Rupert, a renowned businessman and conservationist, WWF opened their South African chapter dedicated to the protection of our delicate local plant and animal life.
Having contributed significantly to our planet’s health, they’re now currently on the search for a public sector partnership team that can aid them in continuing to expand and reach even greater heights. Recognising the need for extra capacity to aid their fundraising efforts, they’ve opened the role of Public Sector Partnerships Manager to drive truly sustainable change within the organisation.
WWF South Africa is looking for an exceptional leader who can form and maintain vital relationships with government entities, international aid agencies, embassies, and public finance institutions, both locally and internationally, to support WWF’s high-impact conservation initiatives. Supported by the Head of Business Development, the Public Sector Partnerships Manager will develop and execute strategies to secure funding for WWF South Africa’s critical conservation projects, working collaboratively with internal teams to align projects with available funding sources and to expand WWF’s funding portfolio.
To be a candidate of interest, you will possess the following:
• A master’s degree in biological, conservation, or environmental sciences, international relations, or a related field,
• At least 10 years in proposal writing and fundraising, specifically within the public sector or international development context,
• Strong writing ability, with the capacity to craft compelling donor proposals,
• Proficiency in MS Office,
• Fluency in English (additional African language advantageous),
• Proven leadership skills, with experience managing and motivating teams,
• Valid driver’s licence and access to own vehicle, with willingness to travel locally.
