To support this endeavour, Rhodes University is on the hunt of a talented, organised and passionate International Fundraiser who can support the Fundraising and Development Manager in unlocking new donor pipelines from outside of South Africa’s borders, and open the door to fresh and exciting funding opportunities.


The ideal candidate will be fluent in the following competencies:


Implement the Fundraising Value Chain


Crucial to success in this role is remaining informed and acting as repository of accurate donor data of various types (bi-lateral, multi-lateral, trust, corporate, private etc), as well as a constant effort to research and identify new international advancements and trends. You will serve as the key point of contact for donors, as well as a champion for fundraising programmes and activities. In addition, you will meaningfully contribute to professional marketing materials, such as presentations, case studies and audio-visual productions.


Proposal Development and Relationship Cultivation


As International Fundraiser, you need to possess a knack for crafting a compelling narrative as well as effectively manage project timelines, as you will take the lead on writing funding proposals, facilitate proposal development processes and track outcomes of submission. Using your strong interpersonal skills, this is where critical donor cultivation activities take place.


To be considered for this role, we require you to possess the following:


- Bachelor’s degree in economics, business admin, communication, journalism or international relations,

- 5 years in a specialist writing role, with proven knowledge of proposal writing and budget development,

- Strong knowledge of donor trends and relevant regulations or major key players,

- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with an ability to address audiences

- A strategic mind with a propensity for analytical thinking, quick to solve problems and objective-driven

- Strong computer competency skills, with the ability to make use of and understand digital workspace suites
