Title: FILLED: Finance Manager

Type: Full-time and permanent

Location: Home Based (but with regular visits to Gauteng)

Salary: R 30,000.00 per month

Closing: 28th August 2024

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this exciting role plays a large part in ensuring the smooth running of this highly regarded NPO.   You’ll be one of a four-strong Senior Leadership Team dedicated to serving the needs of vulnerable children and families in South Africa.

INMED South Africa which is a non-profit humanitarian development organisation was formerly established in 2009. They build effective systems that deliver innovative and sustainable approaches to breaking complex cycles of poverty for current and future generations.

Since its inception, INMED South Africa has worked closely with government, corporates, tertiary institutions and local communities to implement programmes that strengthen food security, health and nutrition, workforce skills and community development while empowering participants to achieve well-being and self-reliance; including persons with disabilities.

They are now seeking a new Finance Manager to join their team.   Although they are based in Johannesburg South, this homeworking role can be done from anywhere, provided you can attend the office around twice per month.

The role is very much a “pure” finance position.  So you will use your skills and experience to set and manage budgets, produce reports for internal and external stakeholders and ensure that the proper accounting procedures for the organisation are well managed.

It’s also important for Inmed to attract further investment.   So someone with grant control experience, that can add confidence and integrity when feeding back to funders, would be a great fit for this role. Experience of similar reporting in a non-profit organisation is desirable rather than essential, but it would be a very strong asset in this role.

The key relationships for the role are:

The Executive Director – you will be one of three Managers who work with the Executive Director as the Senior Leadership Team

The Board – the postholder will provide data and reports for the Trustees and will lead the development of a new Finance Committee.

External Suppliers – The Finance Manager will work with an external auditor to create the annual accounts. They also have a retained accounting firm and external payroll provision.

Administration Support – there is an Administration person shared between this post and the Operations Manager.

Regulators and Funders – it will be vital to maintain excellent and professional relationships with organisations like USAID, SARS and UNDP.

Inmed work best when their staff work well together and the positive ethos that the team gel in support of is crucial.   The humanity behind the team is at the heart of what they do, and the organisation appreciate that things happen in lives, and people need flexibility around childcare, or looking after elders.   Inmed are happy to offer this flexibility and it is reflected in a very positive work environment.

They are also a results-based organisation, so staff can clearly see how their efforts achieve results – this can be as simple as a beneficiary getting something to eat.  It’s clear what the outcomes are at Inmed and you will be able to gain real reward in seeing how your work helps others.

If you have an appropriate accounting qualification (BCom or equivalent) and 5 plus years post graduate experience, we’d love to hear from you.  We can offer a really meaningful position, with a strong and committed team, who love what they do and the impact it makes.
